Jioni means ‘evening’ in Swahili. With her warm brown, orange and light blue colors, she calls to mind the last glow of sunshine beneath an open sky. A little warmth, a little calm, and the promise of a long, unhurried day by the water.
This bag is lovingly handmade from kitenge cotton in our atelier in Mtwara, Tanzania, where women are given the opportunity to learn the craft. Each Jioni bag is made with care and precision, bringing together practical design and a story of growing skills and new opportunities.
