Maua means 'flowers' in Swahili, and this shopper is a true celebration of bloom. With her vibrant kitenge patchwork of floral prints — each piece a different story, a different garden — Maua brings the wild, colourful beauty of East African textiles together in one bold, joyful bag.

This bag is lovingly handmade in our atelier in Mtwara, where women are given the opportunity to learn the craft. The floral prints were chosen for the way they dance together — turquoise, navy, gold, red and white, like a bouquet of wildflowers picked fresh from the Tanzanian countryside. No two Maua bags are exactly alike, because no two gardens ever are. Each one is made with care and precision, combining traditional techniques with a fresh, botanical look.
